Verizon customers who faced frustrating service interruptions early Monday can breathe a sigh of relief as the company announced that service is beginning to be restored.

In a statement on their X account, Verizon shared, “Our engineers are making progress on the network issue, and service has started to come back.” They acknowledged the deep reliance many have on their service and expressed sincere apologies for the inconvenience caused.

Unfortunately, they did not offer a specific timeline for when everything will be back to normal, nor did they explain what led to the outage.

Data from Downdetector revealed that more than 1,500 people in Columbus reported losing service since 7 a.m., with that number peaking at over 2,300 just before 11:20 a.m. By around 5:30 p.m., reports had dwindled to 104, though many more likely experienced issues without making a report.

This outage has impacted Verizon customers across the country, leaving many with phones stuck in SOS mode, unable to make calls or send texts. It's a reminder of how vital connectivity is in our daily lives, and the frustration of being cut off can’t be understated.
