Rebecca Grossman, co-founder of the Grossman Burn Foundation, was sentenced to 15 years to life in prison for the hit-and-run deaths of two children, Mark Iskander (11) and Jacob Iskander (8), in Westlake Village, Los Angeles. The tragic incident occurred on September 29, 2020, when Grossman, speeding and reportedly racing behind former Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Scott Erickson, struck the children as they crossed the street in a crosswalk. Erickson was not charged in the incident.

Grossman was convicted in February on multiple charges: two counts of second-degree murder, two counts of vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence, and one count of hit-and-run driving resulting in death. Prosecutors initially sought a 34-year to life sentence, but the final ruling was 15 years to life.

During sentencing, the boys' mother, Nancy Iskander, expressed that Grossman had shown no remorse for her actions. Grossman maintained her innocence, stating in a letter to the judge that she did not see the boys and would have taken drastic measures to avoid hitting them had she seen them.

The case has been a significant point of discussion in the community, highlighting the severe consequences of reckless driving. Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón emphasized the devastating impact of the loss of the two children on their family and the community, condemning Grossman's reckless behavior.
